Hannah Rose Creative Co.
Started in May 2018, Hannah Rose Creative Co. is owned and operated solely by me, Hannah Chiarella, and is located in Washington, DC. HRC Co. is primarily focused on the creation and sale of original linoleum block prints. In addition to printmaking, HRC Co. does wedding work for clients throughout the year.
Inspired by nature, the work of HRC Co. often combines the disordered and organic forms of nature with the rigid order of graphic design. Almost every piece shows some combination of these two styles. The imperfect process of printing by hand helps enhance this, stepping back from a world of perfectly drawn vector points to individualized pieces that will never be perfectly identical.
About me
I grew up near the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains west of Charlottesville, VA, before moving to Indiana to attend the University of Notre Dame. I graduated in 2016 with a BFA in graphic and industrial design.
It wasn’t until after college that I fell in love with letterpress and printmaking. Through my internship at Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum, I was exposed to the craft and haven’t stopped since. I later interned at Hatch Show Print, in Nashville, TN, before moving to Washington, DC for a graphic design position.
By day, I work as a full-time graphic designer for a museum design company and, in my spare time, I do as much printing and other design projects as I can. Whether it’s wedding invitations or re-decorating my apartment for the 50th time, design is something I have a hard time putting down. Hannah Rose Creative Co. has been a wonderful venture and adventure that has allowed me to be creative, have fun, and share my art with everyone.
